Instructions for Registering to Use the Fairbanks Family Bulletin BoardOur bulletin board is created using a forum software called phpBB. We require that users become registered members in order to view postings on the board, post new messages and reply to others. Skip Instructions; Go Directly to Bulletin Board PageIn order to view postings and leave messages and comments of your own, Fairbanks family members have to go through a three-step registration process. It is a bit cumbersome, but it ensures that our bulletin board will remain free of inappropriate messages. FIRST STEP: you have to register for membership in the Fairbanks Family bulletin board. To do this, go to the bulletin board, and click on the “Register” link at the top of the main page. On the next page, read through the terms of agreement (mostly regarding the posting of offensive or illegal messages). Then at the bottom of the page, click on the link that says “I agree to these terms …” On the next page, enter your username, email address and the password you want to use on the board. Keep these details someplace handy so you can find them if you ever forget what you registered under. Add additional profile information only if you want. At the bottom of the page, hit the button that says “Submit.” Once your registration is complete, you will receive an email with the headline saying “Welcome to Fairbanks Family in America.” The email will contain your username and your password. SECOND STEP: After you are registered, you must apply for access to the Fairbanks Family group. Only when this group access has been granted, will you be able to view the postings and make new postings of your own comments. To apply for access to the group, click on the link “usergroups” at the top of the main page. On the next page, under the blue banner that says “Join a group,” click on the button that says “View Information.” This will bring you to a page that gives details about the Fairbanks Family Group. At the top of the page, under the blue banner that says “Group Information,” click on the button that says “Join Group.” THIRD STEP: Now send a personal email directly to the moderator, so she knows of your application and that you are a family member or other interested person with a legitimate desire to be part of the family discussion board. Send your username, a current email address, and details of your Fairbanks connection in an email addressed to homestead@fairbankshouse.org. The moderator of the board, “jonathangrace” will then proceed to process your request to join the group. After you are approved, you should receive an email informing you of your acceptance into the Fairbanks Group. At that point, just log on and join the discussion!
